Cornelius, North Carolina

Located just 15 miles north of Charlotte, Cornelius is a beautiful small town of just over 25,000 residents. Situated on the shores of Lake Norman, Cornelius is known for its access to lake activities, from boating to Mecklenburg County’s first and only beach, to waterfront property.
Founded in 1905, Cornelius receives a lot of attention for its charm. It’s been recognized by Bloomberg Business Week as the “7th Most Affordable Suburb” in the U.S., but home prices here are on the rise as more and more commuters move out of Charlotte and more businesses move into Cornelius. The city is home to dozens of NASCAR team members, drivers, and owners: many say they love the “Main Street” living offered here and the feel of a small town so close to the amenities of Charlotte. Downtown Cornelius offers charming storefronts, a beautiful traditional Town Hall, wide sidewalks, and street lamps. Homes for sale in Cornelius include everything from beautifully-restored Victorians to quaint cottages to Georgian estates, and of course, lots of lakefront and lake-adjacent properties. Cornelius is a modern Southern city, as diverse enjoyable as nearby Charlotte but with oodles of charm.
Many home buyers in Charlotte turn to Cornelius because of its location. Centrally positioned near interstates and feeder roads, it’s a great place to live for students, families, and professionals. Easy access to Charlotte-Douglas International Airport is also a boon for this former mining town. Far from just a “suburb of Charlotte,” Cornelius is a city in its own right with plenty of restaurants, shopping, and amenities for any full-time resident. And for a quick escape to Lake Norman
